Wind:
Head mod, finance and graphic designer
Hi, this is Wind, you can also call me Feng-jie! I'm in charge of majority of the zine! I'd joined the fandom since the donghua was released, although I've heard of QQ years before. This is my first time organizing a zine project and I hope this will be successful and organize more zines in the future!

Co-head mod and shipment
Hello, everyone! As mentioned above, I will be handling the shipping for the zine! I'm rarely online anywhere except for my Instagram, which is on private. I'm relatively a private person, even on the internet, so if you have any questions regarding the shipping, please redirect your inquiries to Wind instead!

faq
How did you come up with the name of the zine?
It was named after a Chinese poem "Delighting in Rain on a Spring Night (春夜喜雨)" by Du Fu (杜甫). However, because the name is too long in English, we had decided to simplified the name to just "Night Spring". Our head mod often associate Yanshen with spring, thus decided that this should be the theme for this zine!
So why is it Night Spring instead of Spring Night? Wind only found this translation literally a day after they had finished setting everything up and it was too late by end.
What is P4P?
P4P stands for "pay for production", meaning that there will be no additional profit made except for Ko-Fi/Etsy shop fees and Paypal's transaction fee. Any additional profit made will be donated to a local charity or funded to our head mod's next zine project. However, you are required to pay the shipping fee to your address. While it is not necessary, donating to our head mod's Ko-Fi is greatly appreciated to fund our contributor's efforts for making this zine possible!
What is a zine?
Shortened from "fanzine", it is an unofficial and usually non-professional publication work produced by fans of a certain fandom to create fanworks and merch for others in the same fandom.
Does the zine only accepts Yanshen?
No, we're very open to all sorts of works! Sides ships are also welcomed, including problematic ships!
What are the requirements for signing up as a contributor?
Please go to applications regarding this!
Is the zine SFW?
We are planning to have the main book and merch as SFW. However, we are also planning to have a separate booklet specially for NSFW as a separate order.
As of now, there will be two choices of bundles — with and without the NSFW booklet!
To what extend the booklet will be considered NSFW?
Canon-typical violence is considered SFW and will be in the main book. However, intense violence (gore and descriptive use of blood) will be in the booklet.
Topics such as suicide, mcd (main character death), murder (if implied, considered SFW), monsterfucking/teratophilia/exophilia, rape, smut/sex, and stockholm syndrome are considered NSFW.
Dead dove will also be in this booklet.
If you have further questions and/or need more examples, DM us/we may post a list in the future.
Do you accept traditional arts?
Yes! Our head mod realized that not a lot of zines accepts such beautiful arts, only digital arts! If any artists does watercolouring, acrylic painting, graphite arts, etc., we will welcome you with open arms!
However, to ensure the book's high quality, you must be adept in photography so that your arts are clear! For example, Hieu, Sibylline, and Kazel!
How is the book going to be designed?
As of now, we have yet to decide on the design of the book. This responsibility will be made by our graphic designers and finalized by our head mod.
While the main language is English, there will occasionally also be Chinese phrases.
We will release sneak peeks and some prototypes after the creation period and during pre-orders.
Where will we be able to pre-order the zine?
We will open a store on Etsy when pre-orders are about to open! Customer service is not available there, so please DM us via our Twitter or send a CC to our head mod instead! Please keep in mind that this zine is non-refundable.
There is a possibility that the product(s) you will receive will have noticeable flaws, this is perfectly normal during manufacturing and we will not accept refunds for this.
However, if there are any products missing from your order, you must provide an unboxing video as proof by emailing us or our DM us at Twitter. In order to avoid any potential scams towards us...
1. You must begin filming as soon as you'd received the parcel with it's original outer packaging
2. Video must not be shaky and filmed above on a phone stand
What is the average shipping fee and when will we receive it?
We are based in Malaysia, so we will be using Poslaju for both domestic and international shipping.
For local orders, you can check their rates here and we are shipping from Selangor.
For international orders, we will be using their EMS, if your country. If you wish to know how much is the shipping to your country, please find your country's zone here and check your country's rates here. Depending on the destination, it may take about 1-2 weeks to arrive. EMS is currently available for 145 countries (check "zones"), so if your country is not available here, we will use another courier instead and will inform you during 2nd payment.
Shipping fees will not be included during checkout and you are required to add a note with your email so that we can manually send you a BCC email/PayPal invoice with your shipping fees (see next question regarding this).
Packaging fees will be included with shipping.
We are hoping for anyone to open group orders for any countries/regions (especially for US and EU) so that international shipping fees will be cheaper. However, the max weight for each parcel is either 20KG or 30KG, depending on the country you're hosting for, thus we will separate them into batches if necessary.
How do I pay for the 2nd payment/shipping?
If you have PayPal, we will request your PayPal account's email so we can notify your payment via invoice! It will include domestic transaction rate at 3.90%/international transaction rate at 4.40% and invoice fee at 3.49% + USD0.49.
If you don't have PayPal and can only pay via Etsy (using debit/credit card), we will open a new listing on our store specially for this payment! During pre-orders, we will request for your email so that we can send a BCC email to those who wish to pay via Etsy with a list of buyers and their perspective payment attached. It will include Etsy's payment fee at 4.5% + MYR2.00, transaction fee at 5% (does not include any sales tax), and possibly currency conversion fee at 2.5%.
Personally, we highly prefer using PayPal's invoice so it's easier to keep track of all payments, so if you have PayPal, please choose this option instead!
These are subjected to change!
Will there be any leftovers after the pre-orders?
Certainly! Some of our manufacturers only accept a fixed quantity to produce.
For example, one of our manufacturers responsible for our merch only accepts in hundreds. If there are 145 pre-orders for a certain merch, we will request them to produce 200 and the remaining 55 will be up for sales after pre-orders/during production period until it's sold out.
We will only start shipping leftover orders after we had shipped all the pre-orders (especially GOs), since this is our priority.
But what if I'd failed to purchase the leftovers too?
We may consider opening the shop again and accept orders for merch only after the fanzine is over (digital copy will still be up for free).
However, we will first accept interest check prior to gauge how many do we need to produce. Unlike for the pre-orders during our zine, if there are 145 interest check submissions, we will open for 100 slots only — first come, first serve.
After all 100 slots have been pre-ordered, we will start production again and it will take about a month.
Interest checks will be announced on our head mod's Twitter instead as we will no longer operate on our Twitter after the zine is over.
Can I open a GO for your zine?
Of course! However, please DM us about it first and let us know which country/region you're hosting for!
However, we will be accepting GO during pre-orders only, not for leftovers. If there's already someone else hosting a GO in your country/region, we will reject your offer.
We will release a list of GOs after announcing that the pre-orders are opened.
Will contributors receive the zine for free?
Of course, we will as a reward for making this zine possible! We will send the zine via a GO if possible and it will contain the main book and all the merch (booklet will be optional if they desire it). This will, however, increase the price for pre-orders to cover the cost. Alternatively, you can always donate to our head mod's Ko-Fi to fund our contributors! But we will, of course, send a digital copy to them.
What is the prompt for the fanfics and fanarts?
This is up to the artists and writers as long as the idea covers the theme of the spring. The theme can be taken as literally or metaphorically! Any sort of AUs accompanied are acceptable. For artists and writers, remember to prepare about 3 pitches to plan ahead!
Will we get a digital copy of the book? Are artists and writers allowed to post their contributed works online?
Yes, we will put it up for free at our head mod's Ko-Fi! Contributors are allowed to post their works online if they desire!
How will the collaboration between artists and writers work?
We have two plans regarding this and more info can be found on the application forms (subject to change):
1. an artist and writer will collaborate and discuss their prompt/idea for a fanfic
2. a small group of artists and writers will collaborate and discuss about the plot for a mini comic
If none of these answers your question, feel free to DM us! If you wish to receive a faster response, DM our head mod on Twitter or their CC instead! You can also ping our head mod if you're in the Yanshen Nation Discord server!
